It's about relationship.

Not religion.

Relationship vs. Religion

We all want great relationships with other people. Humans are social beings, it's in our nature. But have you ever considered having a real relationship with God?  The truth is, not only would this be great for you, but this is something that God really wants as well.

If you will just recognize that God is real and that He cares about you, then the greatest relationship of your life can begin right now. He is right there with you. If you talk to Him, He will hear you. And there is no "fear of rejection" in a relationship with God. Just keep in mind, this is not a relationship between equal partners. He is God and you are not. You must acknowledge who He is to be in a real relationship with Him.

Consider this possibility. Think of a very famous person that you really admire. A relationship with him or her feels out of reach. But if you had an opportunity to become

a good friend of that person; not just a handshake and a photo, but a real relationship, would you take that opportunity? Of course you would! This could have a very positive impact on your life. And how much better a relationship with God would be…

This is not about religion and following rules, it's about getting to know God's character and His love for you. You don't have to go clean yourself up first; you don't have to know every story in the Bible. This relationship is a "right now, as you are" kind of thing.

We don't get ready to meet God, as much as we meet God to get ready. God meets everyone exactly where they are at.

Timothy G. Cameron

Ok, now what? How does this work?

This is a matter of the heart, not just saying the 'right' words.

So how does a person start a real relationship with God?

Simply acknowledge that He is God. Everyone wishes they could be God.

But the truth is, we are not, He is. Just be honest with yourself and Him.

The good part is, He is not an angry judge waiting to punish you for your mistakes. He is a loving Father who genuinely wants a personal relationship with you.

Acknowledge

God

Jesus is the Son of God. He died on a cross to pay the price for our mistakes. Without Him and what He did for us, we have no right to this relationship at all. If you want the price He paid to cover your mistakes, you have to accept Him as Lord and Savior. Then you will have the right to enter into a relationship with God. An actual decision by you is necessary. Why? Because this relationship is a benefit of being a member of His family, and He never forces anyone to join.

He gave all of us free will, so you have to choose.

Accept

Jesus

Commit yourself to living and growing in this new relationship each day. By doing so you will grow as a person and find real joy in your life as you develop this relationship with your loving Father, God!

Ok, what's next?

Learn about Him.

As in any new relationship, you will want to learn about the other person. God has written an entire book to help us do just that. And that book, the Bible, is the best selling book of all time! Start with the gospel of John and read a chapter each day.

Communicate with Him.

Talk to God straight from your heart. He already knows all about your life. There is no need to pretend about anything. He knows all about you and He loves you. He is the most loving Father the world has ever known.

Find some Christian friends.

Having friends that will share in this new experience with you will make it much easier and more enjoyable. Look for a church that teaches the Bible and is interested in helping you develop your personal relationship with God. If you would like help with any of this, please contact us. We would really like to hear from you.
